Murray, KY – National Weather Service forecasters predict widespread thunderstorms tonight. The NWS expects the storms will arrive after dark, and continue into the night. Marshall County Emergency Management Director Melissa Combs says when severe weather hits at night, it's important to have a way to get updated alerts and information. Combs recommends setting a weather radio nearby the bed.
"They're built to go off when those warnings are issued. Um,we don't program the specific warnings it receives, but we can program it to listen for what counties you want it to."
Combs says residents should check the batteries on their weather radios, and have a back-up FM radio. Forecasters predict the storm tonight could bring damaging winds and heavy rain. There's also a risk of flash flooding. Combs urges travelers to use caution and watch for water over the road.
