Paducah, KY – McCracken County Commissioners have scheduled a second round of public hearings on proposed rezoning along Carneal Road and the Ohio River. Commissioners expect to hear primarily from people opposed to the change. The Paducah Sun reports the hearing will be held May 2nd at 6:00pm at the county courthouse. The proposal would change the 430 acre property from rural residential to heavy industrial in order to build a coal terminal and coal-to-liquid plant. The projects promise to bring in new jobs, but opponents cite worries over airborne coal dust and health issues.
