Mayfield, KY – Mayfield officials are encouraging residents to watch out for litterers. Mayor Teresa Cantrell yesterday announced a litter clean-up program. Cantrell says there are isolated trash problems all over the city, and a big problem on a strip of road populated with fast food restaurants. Cantrell encourages residents who see littering to write down the information and call it in to city hall. The mayor says she doesn't want to clog up the courts with litterers, but she wants people to know they're being watched. The city will send litter bugs a warning letter and a trash bag for the first offense, and a citation after that. Mayfield will also start hosting periodic city-wide clean-up days to beautify the city.
