Hickman County, KY – Kentucky Transportation officials warn rising floodwaters will likely close a section of US Highway 51 in Hickman County. The roadway is expected to become submerged between the 4 and 5 mile markers sometime today. Transportation spokesman Keith Todd says US-51's closure will severely limit north and south traffic through the Mississippi River counties. Many other secondary highways in the area are already submerged and closed with no convenient detour routes. Todd reminds drivers not to chance driving over water-covered roads.
