Clarksville, TN – The Clarksville, Tennessee City Council is considering a law banning certain synthetic drugs inside city limits. Thursday's proposal from Councilwoman Deanna McLaughlin comes amid growing concerns from law enforcement about the drugs. The substances are marketed as plant food, incense, or bath salts and sold at low cost at some convenience stores. Clarksville police agents Phil Ashby and Linda Caver told the council the substances, which are currently legal, have the same makeup as methamphetamine. The proposal would allow police to cite business owners and clerks who sell the products. A citation would carry a 50 dollar fine multiplied for each individual packet in a store's possession.
