Ledbetter, Ky. – National Guard troops and Fish and Wildlife officials are en route to Livingston County. One hundred soldiers from Leitchfield and Richmond are deploying to the city of Ledbetter, where they'll team up with Fish and Wildlife officers equipped with eight boats in the evacuation effort. In addition, 15 troops are going to McCracken, Fulton and Livingston counties to help with emergency planning and resource management in response to the flood. U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) officials predict that the lower Ohio River will crest at 58 feet, three feet above the earlier prediction of 55 feet. Emergency Management Director David Koon has ordered the evacuation of the city of Smithland and other low-lying areas of Livingston County.
