Benton, KY – The Region 1 Emergency Operations Center continues to coordinate flood relief in western Kentucky. Spokesman Buddy Rogers says they've also set up a mobile communications and command center in Livingston County in case flooding gets worse. Rogers says sandbagging efforts continued overnight in Smithland to prevent water from breaking through the levee. Fulton County Emergency Director Hugh Caldwell says flooding has gone down one and half feet since the Army Corps of Engineers breached a levee yesterday. Western Kentucky has four Red Cross shelters open now, and two on standby. Rogers says 37 people took advantage of the shelters last night.
