Washington D.C. – President Barack Obama last night approved a major disaster declaration for parts of Kentucky affected by last week's storms and flooding. The declaration makes federal funding available for 24 counties directly impacted by the severe weather, including the 10 counties in western Kentucky on the Ohio and Mississippi rivers. An additional declaration for Dyer, Lake and Stewart Counties was also issued last night. FEMA officials say damage surveys are ongoing, and additional counties may be added to the list after assessments are completed.
