Cairo, IL – Mayor Tyrone Coleman lifted the mandatory evacuation order for Cairo, IL this afternoon. Residents may return to their homes, but they are being asked to avoid areas marked with barricades or red tape. Anyone caught within these areas will be ticketed. A curfew will still be in effect for the city until 6AM on Tuesday, May 17th; and no alcoholic beverages will be sold within the city during this curfew. The Mississippi River levee is closed to traffic, and only emergency personnel are allowed on the Ohio River levee. Businesses may resume normal operations tomorrow, in accordance with the city's curfew and temporary ban on alcohol sales.
