Clarksville, TN – The Clarksville-Montgomery County School System is requesting an 8 and a half cent increase in county property tax rates. The funds would help pay for growth as countywide student enrollment increases by an average of 500 a year. The announcement was part of a school budget hearing Wednesday. The Clarksville Leaf-Chronicle reports officials deem the current rate insufficient to handle the expansion. CMCSS Finance Director Ken Thompson and Chief Financial Officer Danny Grant say the hike would generate another $2.5 million in annual revenue.
