Elaine Walker News Conference

By Tony McVeigh

Frankfort, KY – Kentucky voters go to the polls Tuesday to settle primary elections in six constitutional races. Secretary of State Elaine Walker is predicting voter turnout of around nine to ten percent, the lowest since 1999. Walker says flooding in western Kentucky will require the relocation of a couple of polling places.

"And those are in Livingston County. We've been working with County Clerk Sonia Williams to make sure that we can assist them in any way. And they are getting word out through notifications of registered voters. They're also getting that information out through the local media."

The Republican primary for governor tops the ballot on Tuesday. The race features Senate President David Williams, Louisville businessman Phil Moffett and Jefferson County Clerk Bobbie Holsclaw. Each wants the opportunity to oppose Gov. Steve Beshear in the fall. Beshear, who's seeking a second term, has no Democratic primary opposition.
