Eddyville, KY – The Commonwealth has approved funding for a new Lyon County Middle School. The current structure opened in 2003, but the school district discovered cracks in the foundation. Officials determined the concrete used in construction had problems, and the building was declared uninhabitable. The board voted to close the school permanently last year. The district has ongoing litigation against the company that supplied the faulty concrete. A date to begin construction on a new Lyon County middle school has not been set.
