Illinois DOR Sent Errant Late Notices

By Jacque Day

Illinois – Some Illinois business owners received a mistaken late tax fee notice from the state Revenue office. The Illinois Department of Revenue sent errant notices to about 1,900 Illinois businesses informing them that they didn't pay their corporate income taxes. Department spokeswoman Sue Hofer says a computer glitch is to blame, and the late fees are deleted. She says the department won't send out follow-up letters informing affected businesses of the mistake. Business owners need to contact the Department of Revenue.
