Murray, KY – The Murray State University Board of Regents is the third governing body to take up the vote on funding an extended campus in Paducah. The Paducah city council approved a memorandum of understanding at its meeting Tuesday. McCracken County's fiscal court approved it May 13. Under the agreement, the county would issue $10 million in bonds to build the facility, with all three groups sharing the cost. MSU President Dr. Randy Dunn doesn't expect opening a campus in Paducah will impact enrollment at Murray's main campus.

"That business will keep coming and we work to grow it. This is about another type of student, another profile, where there is pent up demand in Paducah with this non-traditional population that no one is serving, and I think it's our first call to get that done."

He says the move would also mean other buildings, like a new library and an addition to the science complex, would get more attention on the university's capital projects list. The Board of Regents will vote on the memorandum of understanding at its meeting Friday.
