Murray, Ky. – Steve Prohm will serve as the new Murray State University head men's basketball coach. Athletic Director Allen Ward made the announcement Monday at the CFSB Center. Prohm's emotional acceptance included a nod to former head coach Billy Kennedy.
"You've taught me so much more than how to be a successful head coach. You've taught me how to be a man of great character, integrity, and faith. I'm honored to have the opportunity to work with you the past twelve years to win championships and share so many experiences with you. I wish you all the success in the world to you and your family at Texas A&M . . . except obviously if we play in the NCAA tournament."
Prohm also thanked the community.
"I want to make sure you guys understand. I understand this university, I understand this community, and I embrace the passion and love you have for this program. I share that love."
Prohm stepped up to the position after Billy Kennedy left to take the head basketball coach position at Texas A&M last week.
