Paducah, KY – McCracken Fiscal Court commissioners have voted to deny a rezoning request that would have brought two industrial coal processing projects to a tract of land off of Carneal Road. The rezoning request passed the county planning commission on March 23rd, but was voted down last night. The Paducah Sun reports nearby residents and businesses joined with environmental advocates to oppose the rezoning saying airborne coal dust would have polluted the air and destroyed the neighborhood's quality of life.
