Murray, KY – Southern Illinois meteorologist Beau Dodson says there's 45% chance of a severe weather event in our region today. Dodson says that percentage, from the Storm Prediction Center in Norman, Oklahoma, represents a high risk.
"This means there's a good chance for severe thunderstorms with some tornadoes. The tornado-ingredients map has a decent chance for tornadoes. Bottom line concerns: some potentially dangerous and potentially life-threatening weather conditions over the next 24 hours across the central United States into the Ohio Valley."
Dodson says conditions could change rapidly, and says you need to be ready to implement weather safety plans. Dodson urges everyone to stay tuned to local media and their weather radios for the latest updates, watches and warnings.
