Southern Illinois – The Illinois House voted Friday to repeal the workers' compensation system. The bill, sponsored by southern Illinois Democratic Representative John Bradley, would eliminate the role of more than 30 state arbitrators and send workers' compensation claims through circuit courts instead. Currently the state has 50,000 pending workers' compensation claims. A spokesperson from Representative Bradley's office says a repeal of the system will eliminate corruption problems brought about by arbitrators. The bill passed the Illinois House 65-48. It now goes to the Senate.
