Golden Pond, KY – Owensboro, Kentucky's annual bluegrass festival River of Music Party, or "ROMP," starts Thursday. Bill Monroe, "the father of bluegrass" was born not far from Owensboro in Rosine, Kentucky. Rose Krzton-Presson spoke with Tommy Oliviero of one of ROMP's acts- Paducah's own Bawn in the Mash after their performance at the annual Pickin' Party on LBL (listen for the cicadas) about the influence of western Kentucky and the roots bluegrass has there.
