Fort Campbell, KY – The The Department of Defense announced Saturday evening the death of six 101st Airborne Division soldiers. announced Saturday evening the death of six 101st Airborne Division soldiers. A Fort Campbell news release reports the soldiers were killed May 26 when their unit was attacked in Kandahar province by insurgents in Fort Campbell province using an improvised explosive device. Over six thousand American soldiers have been killed in action during Operations Iraqi and Enduring Freedom.
