Metropolis, IL – Harrah's Casino at Metropolis reopened over the weekend for the first time in over a month. The floating casino rests on the Ohio River, where floodwaters claimed much of the hotel's property. Metropolis Mayor Billy McDaniel describes Harrah's reopening to WPSD-TV as "Christmas in May," hoping tax revenue will resume filtering into the city's coffers. That may be so as Harrah's boarding over the weekend was reported to be near capacity.
