School District Hopes County Will Fill Budget Shortfall

By Angela Hatton

Paris, TN – The Henry County, Tennessee School District hopes county commissioners will agree to make up a more than 200,000 dollar budget shortfall. Director of Schools Sam Miles says the board decided to submit an unbalanced budget because of a decrease in state and local funding sources. Miles tells the Paris Post Intelligencer the district could use money from the undesignated fund to make up the difference, but that's a one-time fix. He says the county has not increased their education funding for eight years, and he's hopeful commissioners will agree to make up the difference. The Henry County Commission will consider the proposal Friday.
