Marion, KY – A Kentucky historic preservation group warns some of the state's small towns could disappear. Preservation Kentucky released its list of the state's most endangered historic places last week, listing Marion among several other towns throughout the Commonwealth. The Paducah Sun reports lagging populations are a part of the problem, as decreased numbers of residents mean tighter budgets that don't account for upkeep of historic places. The group hopes to help small towns like Marion raise funds for preservation by getting them involved with programs such as Main Street Kentucky and the National Register of Historic Places.
