Lexington, KY – The U.S. Senate minority leader says he's working to stop the Environmental Protection Agency's "war on Kentucky coal." Mitch McConnell told the Kentucky Coal Association today/Wednesday that he's co-sponsoring legislation with fellow Republican senators Rand Paul and Jim Inhofe.
"The Mining Jobs Protection Act will tell EPA that they need to act within a reasonable time frame and give permit applicants the certainty the certainty they need to do business."
McConnell blasted the EPA, saying the agency doesn't actually want coal operators to comply with regulations but wants drive out the industry altogether. He says Democrats have failed to offer realistic energy solutions.
