Louisville, Ky. – The Louisville Orchestra is effectively without musicians after a union contract ended on midnight Tuesday with no new agreement. Musician leaders say they are proposing that the orchestra be placed on a union list that would mean any union musicians who worked for the ensemble without a contract could be fined. The Louisville Orchestra has been mired in financial problems since company officials announced last December that it couldn't meet its payroll.
