Gilbertsville, KY – Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife officials are recommending a plan to combat the growing population of Asian carp in Kentucky and Barkley lakes. The Paducah Sun reports in a meeting with officials yesterday evening, Director Ron Brooks presented a plan which calls for commercial fishing of Asian carp and the building of processing facilities. Brooks stressed there must be a concerted effort with departments in Tennessee and Mississippi as the states' waterways are interconnected. Asian carp are harming indigenous fish populations by depleting their food supplies.
