Paducah, KY – McCracken County and Federal Emergency Management Agency officials hosted a public meeting Monday night in Paducah to help area residents understand what to do and what not to do with properties damaged by recent flooding. Over 100 people attended the gathering at the Julian Carroll Convention Center. FEMA Representative Taylor Duncan and Kentucky's national flood insurance coordinator Chris Hart explained the process by which communities qualify for the flood insurance program. Hart also elaborated on some of the repairs homeowners will have to make in order to qualify for coverage in the future. Duncan says inspectors must visit the flood-damaged houses to collect water height and damage information before repairs can begin. The Paducah Sun reports officials hope to complete those inspections by June 13.
