Paducah, KY – Paducah City Commissioners plan to withdraw a proposed change to the local fireworks ordinance and replace it with a more restrictive revision. Currently all fireworks are illegal within city limits. Commissioners introduced a regulation last month to allow the sale of fireworks and allow people to shoot off fireworks that leave the ground, explode, or have a report. But a Fire Department inspection found most buildings in Paducah are too close together for these types of fireworks. State law requires fireworks be set off 200 feet away from buildings. The revision only allows people to light sparkling devices six days out of a year, surrounding the July 4th and New Year's holidays. The commission considers the revision June 14.
