Hot Kentucky Weather

By KPR

Frankfort, KY – Many say the un-official start to summer is Memorial Day. If you agree with that premise, then it's already been a pretty hot summer.

Summer will not officially arrive until June 21st. But, don't tell the thermometer that bit of information. Temperatures are expected to top 90 degrees in many communities again this week. Unfortunately, tragic tornadic weather this year has resulted in much loss of life in a number of communities across the country. University of Kentucky agricultural meteorologist Tom Priddy says it hard to predict storm activity this summer across Kentucky.

"We've had some summers where we didn't have a bit of severe weather all the way in through June. This is one of those years where it hasn't been that way so far." Meanwhile, Priddy says the warmer than usual late spring is no indication of how hot June, July, and August will be.
