Mayfield, KY – Mayfield City Hall is open again after a 3-hour evacuation this morning. Mayor Teresa Cantrell says police forced the evacuation after teenagers left a mortar round outside the offices. Cantrell says the teenagers bought the damaged shell at Wingo Trade Days this morning, they then brought it to officials because they were unsure if it was a live explosive or not. The Paducah Bomb Squad has relocated the shell out of city limits to determine how safe it is and discharge it if necessary.
