Union City, TN – Union City Mayor Terry Hailey says the town is slowly committing economic suicide and traffic cameras are to blame. Hailey told the City Council this past week that a local businessman lost a $1,000 sale because Union City has such cameras. His comments came as the council discussed extending a contract to keep the cameras. Hailey has repeatedly opposed them. Officials say if the city continues with the current contract, engineering studies would be needed in 2015.
