Clarksville, TN – Clarksville City Commissioners will likely debate pulling money from the city's Capital Projects fund when they meet next week to consider the budget plan. Mayor Kim McMillan submitted a proposed budget to the committee last week which included no tax increases, and no salary increases. The budget draws 4.7 million dollars in excesses from the Self-Insurance and Capital Projects funds. The Clarksville Leaf Chronicle reports budget committee members have balked at pulling money from the capital projects fund. City Information Officer Mark Hicks says that fund was chosen because few projects were on the list this year. Hicks says the city will continue to focus on paying down projects begun in previous years. The full council is set to hear the first reading of the budget June 23.
