Murray, KY – Former Livingston County Sheriff Tommy Williams has filed a lawsuit in Livingston Circuit Court against the state auditor's office and area media outlets over allegations of libel. Paducah attorney Del Pruitt filed the suit claiming Williams was defamed in the December 2010 audit report and related press. The suit focuses on criticisms made in the auditor's reports of how Williams' handled reimbursements for expenses. These criticisms were then forwarded to state and federal tax authorities. Various members within the State Auditors department, Paxton Media group, and the Commonwealth of Kentucky are listed as defendants in the case.
