Metropolis tourism group

By Rose Krzton-Presson

Metropolis, IL – The Metropolis City Council is postponing a decision to switch tourism groups next year. The city's current contract with Southernmost Illinois Tourism Bureau expires June 30th. The group helps to promote tourism within the region. Metropolis Tourism Director Angie Shelton says, at a Tourism Bureau meeting last night, an alderman proposed switching to a new tourism group. The decision to continue or end business with Southernmost Illinois Tourism Bureau was passed on to the city's finance committee for a second time and will likely be discussed again at the next council meeting on June 27th.
