Paducah, KY – Paducah City Commissioners introduced a revised fireworks ordinance at last night's meeting. The city had proposed a new measure late last month to bring Paducah into compliance with state laws passed in March. After further review, it was determined the ordinance needed more changes to do so. The main change is that the city will allow the sale of fireworks that leave the ground, explode, or have a report. They will not, however, allow the discharge of those fireworks within city limits due to the concentration of homes and other structures. The city commission will vote on the proposal June 21st. In other commission news, members introduced an ordinance for a balanced Fiscal Year 2012 city budget. Mayor Bill Paxton says he's proud of the budget, and says that's why the city has a high bond rating. Paducah's fiscal year begins July 1st.
