Fort Campbell, KY – 101st Airborne Division commander Major General John F. Campbell is on his way to a new job and a third star. Campbell was notified earlier this week President Obama had nominated him for promotion to Lieutenant General and for the job of Army Deputy Chief of Staff for Operations. Campbell says he's honored and humbled by the opportunity and he's looking forward to the challenges. However, Campbell does admit he isn't looking forward to going back to Washington, D.C., saying the bad part is leaving Fort Campbell. The Clarksville Leaf-Chronicle reports that once Campbell's Senate confirmation comes, a date will be set for the handover of command of the 101st Airborne to incoming Major General James McConville.
