Coal-to-Liquid Developers Eye New Location for Plant

By Todd Hatton

Paducah, KY – The proposed western McCracken County coal-to-liquid fuel plant rejected in last month's Fiscal Court rezoning denial may instead be coming to a nearby tract of land. The Saint Louis-based Secure Energy is now looking to build the facility on roughly 100 acres off Noble Road. That property is already zoned heavy industrial. Company co-founder Lars Scott says the plant will bring in around 130 full-time energy and high-tech jobs. The Paducah Sun reports the heavy industrial-zoned property in the area is largely undeveloped and farther away from residences. Scott says the new location would be better suited for the homeowners.
