Workman sentenced to 20 years

By Seth Helton

Murray, KY – A Murray man guilty of 1st degree manslaughter will serve 17 years in prison. Court officials formally sentenced Jayson Workman today in connection to the 2009 death of 24 year old Herbert Donald Scandell. Police identified Workman and his wife Kayla as suspects after Scandell's body was found in the back seat of their car. Jason Workman accepted a charge of 1st degree manslaughter, rather than a murder charge. Jason is also being sentenced an additional 3 years in an unrelated child support case. Kayla Workman faced complicity to murder, but that was reduced to tampering with physical evidence. A judge will sentence her June 27.
