Abramson Tauts Economy at Democratic Dinner

By Rose Krzton-Presson

Murray, KY – Former Louisville Mayor and current Democratic Lieutenant Governor candidate Jerry Abramson says his running mate Governor Steve Beshear should be re-elected because of his efforts to boost the state's economy. Abramson spoke at this weekend's Jefferson Jackson Dinner in Murray. Abramson compared some of Beshear's current international dealings to the Toyota partnership former Governor Martha Layne Collins established in the 1980s.

"The governor flew over to India. Did you see? The other day, the governor flew over to India for the day. Left on a Friday, made a deal on a Saturday, came back on a... I said India, not Indiana. India. You all hear me, right? India! Why did he do that? 280 jobs he brought back out in the Hardin County area. The hope is that the company in India will come to the point where they, too, appreciate what we're about and that other Indian companies will come with reverse investment into the Commonwealth."

Abramson also quoted a Moodys.com study that ranked Kentucky as the 4th most-ready state to recover from the current recession. Beshear and Abramson face Republican Senate President David Williams and running mate, current Agriculture Commissioner Richie Farmer. Williams and Farmer are running on their political experience and the claim that Governor Beshear's first term has provided, in their words, no results.
