Williams/ Farmer Releases Fundraising Totals

By Tony McVeigh

Louisville, KY – In the last month, the Williams/Farmer ticket raised $93,000. The campaign's total for the primary campaign period was $1.4 million.

At the end of the reporting period, the campaign had $89,000 on hand. But the campaign last week raised a reported $700,000 at a Lexington fundraiser featuring Mississippi Gov. Haley Barbour.

Those funds, which don't have to be reported until October, are part of the general election campaign.

Democratic Gov. Steve Beshear and his running mate, Jerry Abramson, raised nearly $5 million during the primary election period. They have a half-million dollars on hand, and say they've raised another $1.5 million for the fall campaign.

Independent candidate Gatewood Galbraith doesn't have to file finance reports until his campaign becomes official. He and running mate Dea Riley are still gathering signatures to get their names on the ballot.
