Fort Campbell Families Anxious for Troops' Return

By Associated Press

Fort Campbell, KY – Even as President Barack Obama detailed his plan to remove troops from Afghanistan, Fort Campbell families are already anxiously awaiting the upcoming return of surge troops after a long year at war. The 4th Brigade Combat Team, 101st Airborne Division was one of the units tapped in 2009 to be a part of the 30,000-strong surge in Afghanistan to secure the country and turn over it to Afghan control. The unit is expected to return to the installation this summer. Families of 4th Brigade soldiers say they hope fewer troops in the war will mean more time for soldiers to spend at home, but uncertainties remain about how the end of the surge in Afghanistan will affect families at home.
