Three Western KY Counties Post Highest HIV Testing Stats

By Angela Hatton

Madisonville, KY – Residents in Hopkins, Christian, and McLean counties tied among the highest number of people under age 65 who've been tested for HIV. The data comes from the Foundation for a Healthy Kentucky. Between 2007 and 2009, 45.5 percent of people in each county got tested. That's ten percent higher than the state average. Today is National HIV Testing Day. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommends annual testing for everyone, regardless of risk factors. Testing is available year-round through local health departments.
