Louisville, KY – Kentucky State Police are investigating who leaked a confidential abortion rights ruling to The Louisville Courier-Journal. Kentucky Court of Appeals Chief Judge Jeff Taylor asked police to find the leak and find out whether any criminal laws were violated. The probe is in response to an article the newspaper published on the opinion. It allows minor girls from outside the state to ask Kentucky judges for permission to have abortions without the consent of their parents. The court issued its secret ruling under a state law that lets girls appeal such decisions anonymously. The paper's editor on Monday refused to disclose the source, citing a state law that protects anonymous sources.
