Murray, KY – More than 1,300 Kentucky National Guard soldiers are training to deploy to Iraq, where they will help U.S. troops withdraw from the country. It will be the guard's largest overseas deployment since World War II. Soldiers leave next month for a mission that will help decommission hundreds of bases, guard convoys of troops and handle security at U.S. bases. The 149th Maneuver Enhancement Brigade, which has troops from Benton, will be among the last soldiers leaving for Iraq.
