Hickory, KY – The Kentucky State Police expect the state's new fireworks law won't cause any extra unrest this holiday weekend. KSP Spokesman Dean Patterson says the same people who bought fireworks before, will be buying them again. Patterson says the only difference is they'll be able to get them closer to home.
"Generally we don't have a huge problem from year to year. We get calls, obviously, but as far as any charges, very rarely do we see a big problem with that."
Patterson expects a few more people call to complain to the KSP because they don't yet know about the new regulations. He urges those setting off fireworks to be safe. Don't let children light fuses, keep away from buildings, and have a water source close by in case of fire.
