Frankfort, KY – Kentuckians can expect to see higher gas prices throughout the summer due partly to an increase in the state tax on gas. A two-cent increase in taxes is expected raise an estimated $57 million dollars over the next year. Chuck Wolfe, a spokesman for the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet, tells WPSD the money is needed for road maintenance and repairs. He pointed out that residents in western Kentucky should understand this need, as we have seen a great deal of damage from flooding.
