Frankfort, KY – Kentucky Farmworker Programs Inc. has received a $1.2 million grant from the U.S. Labor Department to help the Commonwealth's agriculture workers. The federal agency awarded almost $84 million to farm jobs programs to help fight chronic unemployment and underemployment by migrant and seasonal workers who depend primarily on agricultural labor jobs. The program helps those eligible improve agricultural job skills and train for careers in emerging industries and occupations. It also offers child care, health care and transportation assistance. According to the Labor Department, some of the funding also goes to help provide housing assistance.
