Frankfort, KY – Kentucky Governor Steve Beshear today hosts a conference to provide an update on his administration's efforts to privatize some Medicaid services. The Beshear administration is trying to hammer out contracts with managed-care organizations to cuts costs. The governor pledged earlier this year to have the contracts in place by July 1. Beshear said last week officials in the Kentucky Cabinet for Health and Family Services were in the final stages of reviewing potential contracts, which are considered key to filling a $166 million deficit in the Medicaid budget. The news conference is set for 11 a.m. EDT in the Capitol. Health and Family Services Secretary Janie Miller is also expected to attend.
