Union City, TN – Officials in Obion and Weakley counties in Tennessee say a runway extension at Everett-Stewart Regional Airport will help long-range economic development. The 1,500-foot extension is part of over $6 million in improvements made at the airport. Other than the extension, a new access road is being built to connect the airport to Highway 22 East. According to the Union City Daily Messenger, a partnership formed in 2006 between Obion and Weakley played a key role in achieving the improvements.
