Murray, KY – The Kentucky Horse Racing Commission is considering a request to allow expanded gambling at state horse tracks. The commission's agenda today includes a request from Franklin's Kentucky Downs to implement a game in which gamblers bet on old horse races using slot-like devices. The Instant Racing game has been a strong moneymaker at Oaklawn Park in Arkansas, where it has been in use for 10 years. K-H-R-C Executive Director Lisa Underwood says if the game is approved, it could be in operation when the track begins its season in September. In Instant Racing, tracks accept pari-mutuel bets on rebroadcasts of old races which are stripped of the names of horses, jockeys and trainers.
